Description

A nod to the classic Star Trek episode, "By Any Other Name." As you may (or may not) recall, in that episode, the Enterprise encounters beings with the ability to "distill" a lifeform into a "compact and lightweight solid" cuboctahedron, which they used with wild abandon on almost all of the Enterprise crew. Whether or not someone got distilled with what they were carrying seemed somewhat arbitrary, which leads to the question about when did lifeform include what they were wearing. The obvious answer is because (A) it makes for cheaper special effects and (B) there is no way the network censors were going to let the crew be separated from their uniforms.

And yes, for geeky completeness, I realize that the lifeform would be in suspended animation. But that would ruin the punchline. So sue me.

This happens to be a favorite episode of ST:TOS. I'm a fan of inanimate transformation, yet the sight of seeing the crew zapped like that still creeps me out a bit. Although I always wondered, why didn't anyone collect the cuboctahedrons and store them safely inside a secured room?

I like your take on the subject. Thank you for drawing, and take care!
