I was amused to see the wikipedia entry en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Working_… for the Working Daze comic which I drew from 2003 to 2008. It was fun to read the comments on the art styles and seeing how at least some people understood what I was trying to attempt during the evolution of Rita. I'm not sure I'd have anything to add even if I could.

Has it really been four years?

Here's the details. I'll draw anything for $10 per character, black and white only. Additional characters are $10 a piece and color is an additional $5 for each character piece. Additional details are negotiable.

Drop me a note about what you want done and include a link of any reference (if available). I'll get started as soon as I receive payment (I'll send you the Paypal info) Let me know where you want me to send the digital file (no hardcopy, that's a different rate). Also, please note that all of my commissions are for your personal enjoyment. If you need art for marketing, etc. feel free to discuss it with me.

I'll draw it how I want to draw it - in this case the artist is always right.

One more thing: Bring a friend and if both of you buy a commission YOU BOTH get 50% off. I can't keep this up for long. Hope to hear from you soon.

It seemed like a good idea at the time, but maybe it's this time of the year or something. To many things demanding my attention and not enough time to finish the projects I had to do.

I still like drawing for fun and I really need to find a way to keep interested in a project after the novelty wears off. Yep, you heard me, I get bored easily. Not the best thing to put on one's resume.

I'll keep trying. It's all any of us can do.

Hew folks,

Recently I've been lamenting times when I've wanted to draw something but couldn't think of what to draw. So since this is a new year, I'm determined to set some time aside to draw a little sketch every day. Here's the first one: fav.me/d4l6tlu And here's the second: fav.me/d4l9nxt

I'm mainly doing this just to keep my creative muscles in shape, so to speak. And to develop some better habits to replace the lazier ones I've developed.

I can use all the help I can get!

Oh, and I'm still available for commissions, anything from doodles to Flash animations. You tell me what you think it's worth (even if you think it's worth more than you can afford to pay - be sure to tell me that as well) and I'll let you know if we can work something out. Because I love to draw and I especially love to draw something I've never thought of drawing before.

Hey gang, I appreciate everyone taking the time to let me know what they're thinking and helping me understand the whole journal communication thing.

I do have 3 projects (besides my regular work) that I'd like to get finished, but (as usual) I was (and still am) having trouble getting started on them.

So I thought I'd ask for inspiration from my watchers and if the idea struck my fancy, I'd let you folks haggle with me on the price - all the way down to free (that's as much as I can afford). gamecreature.deviantart.com/jo…

It was an impulsive idea, with the existing projects on the deck and everything. And since no one suggested anything, it didn't really turn out as expected.

At any rate, I'll keep plugging away, trying to find a way to get past the block and draw like I want to again.

There was something else I wanted to mention, but I seem to have forgotten. Oh well, hope everyone has a good holiday. :D

IF YOU ARE FOLLOWING, PLEASE READ THIS.

So I basically threw open the gates and hinted that I might be doing "some" commissions for FREE and the response was considerably less than I expected.

Okay, that was probably for the best as was being a bit impulsive and also looking for reasons to procrastinate. But heck, not a single response, not a single note?

Perhaps it was the title of the message or the first line? Or was it just the timing. I'm trying to figure out what it takes to get people's attention around here.

Any feedback would be welcome.

Once again, I have the urge to draw, but not sure what to draw. So I'm taking suggestions from you. And instead of using usual commission rates, I'm letting you name your price. Here's the way it's going to work:

You send me a note about what you'd like to see drawn in my quirky style. You tell me how much you're willing to pay. Then I might draw it for the price you ask OR I may think it's so wonderful and phenomenal that I'll discount the price! Or, (on rare occasions) I may decide that such a piece has such value to the world that I cannot accept your price and offer an alternative that might fit your budget.

All of my work is digital. I no longer do video games, but I might be coaxed to do simple Flash-based movies/stories/etc.

I do black and white and color work. If you really want a one of a kind piece, I do pencil drawings by hand.

So what do you want? Here's your chance to look at my gallery and say "hey, why won't you do more of _____?" And I might say - "You're right, I should. Thanks for the idea - I'm going to do it for free!"

How about it, folks?

Excuse me while I get political for a moment, but I got an email recently from a well-meaning acquaintance warning of some conspiracy to outlaw Christmas.

Take it from me, the so-called "War on Christmas" is nothing more than media hype, a means to get viewers to tune in to certain news broadcasts that gleefully proclaim that their favorite holiday is in danger. It's baloney meant to bolster a station's ratings, nothing more.

One need to look no farther than our own history to see what a real "War on Christmas" looks like. In the 17th century, Puritans associated such celebrations with paganism and idolatry. They even passed harsh laws and penalties on anyone caught celebrating what they considered a pagan Roman holiday.

The puritans essentially were upset because there were people in the colony that were not observing their holy days in exactly the way that they felt they should be. And punished those who didn't tow the line. Nearly 400 years later, it's the same thing, except now those who are getting peeved are upset because we are not using the correct form of greeting or neglect to mention that a decorated tree (a German tradition, BTW) should have the word "Christmas" preceding it.

The point is, we should celebrate that we are alive and healthy and (hopefully) happy, not begrudging someone their own personal freedoms in deciding how to spend their time.

I hope all of you, my friends, take this in the spirit it is given. I love you all and want you to enjoy the wonderful gifts that come with being alive.

End of rant.

Hey, just wanted to thank all of you for your wonderful suggestions to my "technical question." gamecreature.deviantart.com/jo… You have given me enough to work with to finish the piece. I should get it finished soon, but I'm not going to post it until the time is right.

Speaking of questions, I know I asked some questions regarding the "Huff and Puff" piece I did recently. fav.me/d4gdil9 While there were lots of clever and welcome comments, no one actually addressed the question I posed when posting it - is it too much? Not enough? Do you guys want to see more pieces like that? Am I getting too risque? Is there such a thing as getting too risque? Feel free to send me a note if you do not wish to publicly comment.

Just trying to make sure I don't alienate too many of my loyal fans. :D

What is the sound made by an automatic car lock? You know, when the owner points the key fob at the car and it emits two tones to let the driver know it's secure? I don't think it's "beep beep" or even "meep meep." Perhaps something like "beep boop" or "peep woop." At any rate, I need to put that sound effect into words. Any help?

So my life has been a series of ups and downs lately. I want to draw more, but a lot of times I just can't get anything to make it from brain to paper (so to speak).

Yesterday, I actually buckled down and drew something for the sake of drawing something. I thought I was doing pretty good at the time but when I finished and stepped back to take a look at it, who should show up but THE JUDGE fav.me/d41uh78

Before I could blink, the judge had stepped in and tore the piece to pieces. Clearly the judge had regained power. Gotta work on that.

Well, some people have the following with enough liquid assets to do the commission special and some do not. Clearly I am in the latter category. It didn't help that there was so much REAL work taking up my time the last 6 weeks.

I think it was a good idea as it really brought in some interesting challenges and the cash helped with things that needed fixing.

But things still need fixing. I must ponder this some more. What can I do that'll make everybody open up their ol' wallets for Gamecreature originals? Balloons? Pony rides? Lap dances?

It's hard to be a free lance cartoonist, ain't it?

All of the East Coast airports were closed, leaving us stranded in the Midwest until today. Came home to find little storm damage, but I'm definitely going to find someone else to watch our house if this happens again.

But now I'm back and I hope to get cracking on your requests. In case you hadn't heard....

Hey folks, there are now three slots filled. That means only two more are open for the 2 for 1 special mentioned below. Once those are filled, no amount of begging, cajoling, offers of wild nights in Tahiti or anything else will allow you to take advantage of them. Hope to hear from you soon!

I often find myself in a state where I really need to draw something but can't figure out what. There's just vague impulses, but I can't seem to steer them in any cohesive direction.

Here's the deal. When I draw something for sharing, I like to have some sort of finished tableau in mind, something that sort of explains what's going on. In other words, I want the image to have purpose rather than simply be some gratuitous scribble.

It would be nice if I had a jar or a grab-bag or something that I could reach into and it would say "You will draw _____" or maybe a couple that I'd have to combine such as "draw a _____" and "_______."

The fact is, I often have this driving need, this impatience to do something, but there is a vacant area that tells me what that something is. To make matters worse, I have a hard time getting started as there are so many interesting things that I just can't decide. Life can be confusing.

Yep, I know a lot of you (not all, mind you) out there are waiting for me to draw some more pictures of curvy women. But dang it, I am an artist and I have standards! I'm not some kind of smut peddler! Actually, to be a peddler, money would have to be changing hands, so I guess I'm not much of any kind of peddler at the moment. At any rate, I draw what I can, when I can and that's about all I can do at the moment. So if my gallery seems to have no rhyme or reason at the moment, it's because (A) my head has no rhyme or reason at the moment and (B) I'm trying very hard not to make my gallery look like it belongs to some slathering lunatic.

All things considered, maybe I should stop trying so hard. What do you think?
